Manchester United gears up fore the new season with the Power Plate® Machine

Manchester United has introduced the Power Plate® pro5™ model as part of its training programme at Old Trafford in preparation for the new season.

Developed to optimise the effects of Acceleration Training™ exercise, and already used extensively in the USA, Power Plate® training is becoming increasingly popular within the world of sport in the UK with the England Men’s Basketball team (Commonwealth Games Bronze Medallists) and a number of Premiership football clubs incorporating it into their training programmes.

The machine works by transferring vibrations to muscles, which naturally activates reflexive muscle contractions. A static or dynamic pose, held for up to 60 seconds at a time, activates multiple muscle groups simultaneously to improve muscle tone, power, performance, flexibility and range of motion.

In addition to increasing strength and agility, Acceleration Training exercise encourages hormone release for building tissue and promoting recovery. This in turn can reduce the occurrence sports injuries, speed up rehabilitation and shorten healing time.

Manchester United Head Physiotherapist, Rob Swire, is convinced of the benefits of Acceleration Training exercise and plans to use the pro5 model for strength, power, proprioception and rehabilitation.  He explains:

“The Power Plate® pro5 machine meets our requirements for our training equipment to be functional, but aesthetically appealing to encourage players to use it. Indeed, the simplicity of the set up and ease of use allows Manchester United players and staff to quick start and change the frequency and intensity of vibrations with minimum supervision.”

Acceleration Training exercise is fast becoming part of sports training programmes across the UK and we are delighted to be working with Manchester United F.C.,” comments Jeff Davis, Director of Commercial Sales for Power Plate UK.  “The unique and very positive benefits of Acceleration Training exercise are quickly evident to users and it is a great tool to have for assisting in preparation, rehabilitation and recovery from injury.  It really is set to change the way we train.“
