UK Coverage Update 20 10 10

We have some great pieces of coverage from the UK this week so far.

Two pieces of coverage appeared in The Sun (Circulation: 2,936,099) and The Sun Online last Friday and over the weekend.  We originally negotiated space for an editorial/competition within the Sun Woman to feature news of the “10 Year Power Plate Anniversary”.   The copy highlights celebrity endorsements and the main function of the my3 machine.  Unfortunately the journalist went to print without giving us full copy approval, and some mistakes appeared with the layout and details.  We therefore managed to negotiate a further online editorial piece which went live today and includes an exercise image gallery with full instruction, as well as a news angle with Dannii Minogue’s recent return to Acceleration training. Advertising value for print £5,098.00.

English National Ballet work out continues to be popular with journalists in the run up to the festive season.  Harper’s Bazaar Online (circulation: 80,000) include the new Power Plate Pliė class on their beauty & health news page.  With full credit to Harrods and hyper links to Power Plate, this news snippet also includes one of the ballerina PR images to demonstrate the collaboration.

Dannii’s return to the Power Plate is featured in this week’s Closer Magazine (circulation: 539,991).  Danni “tweeted” an image from the Harrods studio with one of the trainers a few weeks ago and this has been included in the editorial.   It is part of a bigger story about her X Factor rivalry with Cheryl Cole and how motherhood is causing her to re-think her priorities.  Advertising value: £3,724.00.

Studio owner Morgan Pierce writes for Irish publication Easy Health & Living (circulation: 17,658).  Her article focuses on osteoporosis and how weight bearing exercise can help increase bone mineral density.  She discusses the issues of exercising with osteoporosis as well as scientific research that focuses on the benefits of Power Plate training.   This feature includes images of the pro5™ machine.

Advertising value: £1755.00

Another celebrity confesses to being a Power Plate fan this week in OK! Magazine (circulation: 508,504).  Girls Aloud beauty Sarah Harding is interviewed with her partner and DJ Tom Crane about her life in the country. Editorial reads, “I might have bum implants if my Power Plate doesn’t work its wonders”. Advertising value: £3,234.00

Here are some of the highlights from UK coverage for the week:

Power Plate training is given the bridal magic by Laura Sloma (nee Wallis) in this month’s Wedding Ideas Magazine (circulation: 28,107).  Their beauty page features a roundup of what made brides look and feel beautiful on their big day, and Laura shares the secret of her pre wedding exercise regime with the nation. She says “I did Power Plate classes at my local studio.  The classes lasted 25 minutes and we would have to carry out various exercises on the machines for 60 seconds each.  In 3 months I lost almost 24cm’s from all over my body”. Advertising value: £1200.00

Health and Fitness Magazine (circulation: 80,000) featured the Power Plate Pliė class in this month’s Issue.  Entice met with Lucy Miller who liked the class concept so much she wrote about it in their Fitness News column.  The piece included the full quote from Dr Matthew Wyon and web credit for Power Plate.  Advertising value: £495

And the reviews continue…. this week, Closer Online also reviewed Power Plate and the English National Ballet concept at the Harrods studio.  The include information of the collaboration and protocol as well as their own experience in the class.  Editorial reads “They are a great alternative or people who don’t have the time to go to the gym three or four times a week, but still want to maintain a healthy lifestyle – you have no excuse now”.

Ambarina Hassan writes a great article on this week’s Running In Heels Online about vibration training and Power Plate. Her article goes in to some depth about the science behind Acceleration training and the main USP’s.  The benefits discussed range from regular gym and fitness to cellulite reduction and use as a medical device.  This piece placed by Entice also includes the studio concept as well as celebrity endorsements, images and video footage.  She adds “the real beauty of it all? A full (and challenged) body workout can be achieved in anything from 15 to 30 minutes, so no slogging away at the gym for hours on end”.

Kelly Osbournes weight loss is still news in the celebrity columns.  This week it’s More! Magazine (circulation: 192, 860).  Her personal trainer Kelly Hagaman describes her new training regime which she has embarked on for the last 7 months which includes acceleration training using Power Plate® machines. Advertising value: £762.00

The Power Plate machine available at Greyshot Spa in Surrey is highlighted as part of a review page in Weight Watchers Magazine (circulation: 203, 656).  Advertising value: £750.00

Private Healthcare UK online includes an article on the types of exercise you can fit in to your lunch hour.  Joanna Knight, editor at Women’s Fitness offers some tips on what you can do in, suggesting a 25min Power Plate class. She says “A 25 minute Power Plate class is a great workout – good for speedy toning and fast results, plus it leaves time for a shower before heading back to the office.” Not only is this a great mention for Power Plate classes, but it shows how important it is to get influential people on board as you never know when they’re going to be called upon for media comment.

Cosmopolitan.co.uk includes Power Plate in their ‘what to do this week’ column. They recommend that readers try the new Power Plate Plie class at Harrods, inspired by English National Ballet. She says that the class includes moves such as plies, squats and stretches to work your core and improve flexibility. She says that this class is perfect for those that want to build muscle without bulking up. The Power Plate website has been credited in the article. This article comes from taking the journalist to the class, although she’s already a huge Power Plate fan!

We are still waiting for the artwork to be completed on the protocols for this class – I will circulate it as soon as it is available.

BodyFit (circulation 45,000, AVE £110) includes an interview with English National Ballet dancer, Ruth Brill, on how she fuels her demanding schedule of training and performances. Although Ruth doesn’t mention the Power Plate machine during the interview, an added paragraph has been included at the bottom of the interview, which states that she uses it during training and that anyone in the London area that wants to try a Power Plate Plie class can do so at the Harrods studio. This came directly from liaising with the editorial team and offering them an interview with the English National Ballet.

Social media wise, at the end of last week we posted a blog on Sinitta, ahead of her debut on the X Factor last week, which can be seen here –  http://community.powerplate.com/2010/10/01/sinittas-body-has-the-x-factor-thanks-to-power-plate/

Power Plate Signs Williams Deal To Attract Male Users

June 29, 2010 by dkblair

Vibration training equipment manufacturer Power Plate has signed a three-year deal with the Williams Formula One team.
Power Plate has previously relied on endorsements from female celebrities to target women, who are the most frequent users of its products. The latest activity is intended to capitalise on Formula One’s huge global fan base, which is male-dominated.

Power Plate will be able to use Rubens Barrichello and Nico Hülkenburg, as well as the team’s crew, within its marketing. As part of the change in approach, Power Plate will shift its focus away from endorsements to concentrate on gaining brand recognition. Male-focused marketing will promote its affiliation with the racing team. As part of the deal, Power Plate will launch a co-branded Williams training device.

Nilesh Pandya, Executive Vice-President of Power Plate, explains that “the strategy is to be less about PR and more about experiential activity. People are aware of the brand, but until they try it they are sceptical.”
